“This thing is rad beyond words. Definitely some MK1 lineage in there along with some fuzz factory madness. Really digging it so far. So many new pedal builders I feel like are taking the safe, polite fuzz route: keep things clean and tame. This pedal is the opposite of that. I love that. Crusty and nasty to the core. The gating is spot on as well.” (A Happy Customer)
The Bad Nite Fuzz is a wild four transistor germanium fuzz. It combines the raw and ragged Mk1 Tone Bender sound with a glitchier saturated square wave. Neither pretty nor subtle, it’s a contemporary square wave fuzz monster straight out of 1966.
I adapted it from an obscure UK electronics hobby magazine circuit from 1966. I tuned it for a bigger, higher gain sound, using rare TK22C transistors. The circuit is completely different to any of the major players in the early London fuzz scene. It has one knob: volume.
The Bad Nite is built it on 1960s style stripboard with vintage and new old stock parts. It’s housed in a unique cold war dosimeter charger enclosure you won’t see anywhere else. The hammertone finish is original, with hand-stamped graphics which vary slightly between each batch.
